Welcome to Mended Harmony!
What began as a seemingly never ending nightmare of a life, helped pave the way to the creation of this unique organization that you see today. My name is Amy L. (Tayte) White and I am the founder of Mended Harmony.
It has been my labor of love to develop a special place where victims of domestic violence, survivors, and loved ones can come together and find ways to heal and help. When I started on my journey of breaking free and reclaiming my life, I searched for a place that could lead me in the right direction. What I found was a lot of wonderful sites, but I had to hunt in what felt like a million different places for answers I needed. For me, I already felt out of sorts within myself, not being able to find ONE place that I could go to and find help for all the questions that I had at ONE time - was frustrating and I felt defeated.
In the latter part of my healing process, I felt led to step up my advocacy stance and really delve into bringing genuine assistance to those that are in such desperate need of it! I took time to truly reflect upon my own journey and the path became crystal clear. I decided to develop the kind of website and organization that would have helped me the most when I was facing the unknown of Domestic Violence and PTSD. It became my dream and passion! That passion is what drove me to make it a reality!
From deciding what name to give it, which was no easy task! To working on the layout and content to include/share. How much of my own story did I want to put out there? Which links would be the most valuable for others? What happens if my abuser decided to lash out because I had made a public forum for all this? Will this even make a difference in the lives of those who are looking for help? I weighed some extremely heavy scenarios in my heart and mind. Ultimately, I decided to speak up and speak out! Give a voice to those who haven't found their own voice yet. Help those that have no idea where to turn. The cycle of domestic violence is such a dark place and I want to shine all the light on it that I possibly can!
If I can help just one person through this, what I went through will have been worth it! Always know that you are never alone!
